BSNL to Get Additional Fund of Rs 6,000 Crore from Government for 4G Network
a business newspaper Report According to, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has planned to give this fund to BSNL due to the reduction in capital expenditure in purchasing equipment for 4G. This proposal will soon be presented to the Union Cabinet for approval. BSNL has started 4G services. It aims to launch this network across the country by the first half of next year. The company has given the order to purchase equipment for 4G network to Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and government telecom equipment maker ITI.
Recently, Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia had said that BSNL has built more than 15,000 4G sites under the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ campaign. The company plans to convert these sites to 5G later. DoT had shared the image of BSNL’s 5G SIM card on the social media platform X. This indicated preparations for the launch of BSNL’s 5G service with indigenous technology. Scindia has also tested its 5G enabled phone call.
The number of BSNL subscribers has increased in the last few months. The reason for this is the increase in tariffs of private telecom companies. Scindia had said that under ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, a 4G network using indigenous technology is ready and in a few months its service will be available across the country through BSNL. He said, “When Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel launched 4G networks, many people asked why not BSNL? It was the Prime Minister’s resolve that if we have to develop the network of a government telecom company, then we will not use equipment from China or any other country.” It was decided that an indigenous technology would be developed.
