iPhone 16 series not to support 8K recording reveals new leak ahead launch

Now less than a day is left for the launch of Apple iPhone 16 series. The company is reportedly going to introduce the series tomorrow. Four smartphone models iPhone 16, Plus, Pro, and Pro Max can be introduced in it. Leaks have been coming out about the series for a long time in which the specifications are discussed. The latest leak says that 8K video recording will not be supported in the iPhone 16 series. Whereas this feature has been given in some high-end Android phones for a long time. Let’s know the reason behind this.

A big revelation about the iPhone 16 series is coming out before the launch. Support for 8K video recording is going to be missing in the models of the series this time too (via) is. When the company brought a 48MP main camera in the iPhone 14 Pro, fans hoped that now 8K video recording would also be possible in it. 8K video recording could not be done with a 12MP sensor. This requires a resolution of 7680 x 4320 pixels, which makes a total of about 33.2 million pixels. But Apple’s phones come with less storage, so it becomes difficult to support this feature in them.

Apart from this, another problem with Apple is that its 10-bit ProRes recording requires a lot of storage. According to the TrendForce report, the company can increase the base storage up to 256GB in the iPhone 16 Pro, but this is not enough for 10-bit ProRes recording in 8K resolution. At the same time, 1 minute of 10-bit ProRes 1080P recording requires 1.7GB of space. Whereas 1 minute of recording in 4K will require 6GB of space. Because of this, Apple’s phones fall short in terms of storage.

However, if other leaks are to be believed, there will definitely be an upgrade in video recording. iPhone 16 Pro can be given 4K 120fps recording feature. Which was limited to only 4K 60fps recording in the series that came last year. In this series, the company can also offer a new image format called JPEG XL. This is the next generation format which gives better compression and quality. However, now the launch of the series is awaited, after which it will be clear what special the company is going to introduce in the upcoming series.
