Chinese scientists discovered water molecules in samples from the moon
This study has been published in the journal Nature Astronomy. Scientists have said that this discovery has provided information about the actual form of water molecules and ammonium on the surface of the Moon, i.e. in what form it is present. The special thing is that the structure of the mineral discovered is very similar to the mineral found near the volcanoes of the Earth.
This research has potentially revealed that water molecules may exist on the surface of the moon in the form of hydrated salts. These hydrates are found in the high altitudes of the moon as well as in areas where sunlight reaches. Researchers say that this discovery will open new possibilities for the development of water resources on the moon in the future.
It is worth noting that China is continuously sending its missions to the moon. Just last month, China’s robotic Chang’e 6 mission returned to Earth after collecting samples from the far side of the moon. The far side of the moon is a place which is not visible from the Earth. For the first time in the world, a moon mission has returned to Earth with samples from that place. Chinese scientists hope that the Chang’e 6 mission will also collect new information about the moon.
