Scientists Believed These Islands Will Vanish But Instead They Expanded

Due to climate change and global warming, the earth is constantly getting hotter, and the ice on its poles is melting rapidly. In such a situation, geologists have been warning for a long time that the rising sea level will engulf many parts of the land. But at one place on earth, the opposite of this is being seen. The islands in the middle of the sea are expanding instead of sinking in the water.

There are many small islands on the seashore near the land surface which look like they will submerge if the sea level rises even a little. These islands are so small that it is very difficult to reach here. Here only a little land is visible above the water. New York Times A report says that even though the shores of islands and peninsulas are shrinking in many parts of the world, the opposite is happening in some places. There are some islands which are increasing their size.

Recently the islands of Maldives attracted the attention of scientists. A team of scientists reached here. They installed cameras and their equipment all around so that they could understand the behavior of the waves. It was found that the collision of waves with the soil was giving a new shape to the shore of the island. Its shore was expanding.

No one knows exactly what is going to happen in the future. Even scientists can only make guesses based on theory and observation. It is being said that while some parts will be submerged in water, some parts may survive. It will depend on the respective country as to how it can protect its island.

Here scientists show special interest in coral islands. Coral islands are islands that are found near lagoons. Lagoon is a shallow part of water in the middle of the sea surrounded by land. This area is also surrounded by water from all sides. Actually this area is made up of many coral islands. Such marine structures have their own unique ecosystem. These are said to be volcano based marine structures.

The movement of tectonic plates and volcanic eruptions are the reasons for their formation. Corals gradually start accumulating on this part, while at the same time it keeps rising from the bottom, due to which a ring-shaped structure starts forming in the sea. Sea waves keep depositing soil and other substances on it. This then leads to the formation of coral islands.

Their shape depends on the process of their formation in different parts of the earth. The structure of the coral islands of French Polynesia, Malwadive and Micronesia is different. Scientists have recently studied 184 islands of Maldives. A complicated picture has emerged here. Half of these islands are losing their existence with the passage of time, while the other half remain the same. Interestingly, some islands are also increasing their size.
