At the Google for India event, the company’s Senior Vice President (Devices and Services), Rick Osterloh, said that Pixel 8 will be assembled in India in 2024. However, only select variants of Pixel 8 are being assembled in the country. In a post on social media platform X, the company’s unit in the country has confirmed the start of assembly of Pixel 8. This series includes Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 8a. TechCrunch’s report states that Google has started manufacturing only the base model Pixel 8 of this series in the country. The report states that the company’s international manufacturing unit Compal has partnered with Dixon Technologies for this. The initial capacity of its factory is about one lakh units per month. About 30 percent of this will be exported.

The starting price of Pixel 8 is Rs 75,999. It is available in 128 GB and 256 GB storage options. This smartphone is sold through e-commerce site Flipkart. The company’s Pixel 9 series can also be sold at retail stores like Croma and Reliance Digital. The manufacturing and export of smartphones has increased rapidly in the country in the last few years.
