Vi users are porting their numbers to BSNL after tariff hike

Are telecom companies losing customers due to the cost of mobile recharge? Vodafone Idea (Vi) CEO Akshay Mundhra said on Tuesday that the number of customers in the government company BSNL has increased since the tariff hike in July. That is, Vodafone-Idea customers are porting their numbers to BSNL. Apart from Vi, Jio and Airtel have also ported all their mobile phones. Recharge has made it expensive, whereas BSNL has not increased the prices.

According to media reports, Mundra told analysts after the quarterly results that the reason for customers porting to BSNL is the increase in tariffs. This is an area we are keeping an eye on.

It is worth noting that the company is continuously losing its subscribers. 5G is also believed to be one of the reasons for this. In comparison to Airtel and Jio, Voda-Idea has not been able to expand the 5G network yet, while BSNL’s 4G network is going to be rolled out in the country soon.

In recent times, many media reports have revealed that after the increase in tariff, users are porting their numbers to BSNL. A report by Rising Kashmir revealed that 300 to 400 numbers are being ported to BSNL every day. Apart from VI, there were reports of Jio and Airtel users also switching to BSNL.

According to a report in Dainik Bhaskar, in 13 days in July, 1.05 lakh mobile numbers were ported to BSNL in Madhya Pradesh.

Vi lost 25 lakh subscribers

According to reports, Vodafone-Idea lost 2.5 million (25 lakh) mobile customers in the April-June quarter. By the end of June, the company’s total subscriber base remained at 210.1 million (about 21 crores). However, the company’s 4G customers have increased.
