SMS about bank account being blocked
According to reports, in recent days, people are getting messages on their mobile numbers. It is being said that if the users do not update their PAN card details within 24 hours, their India Post Payments Bank account will be blocked. A link is also being sent to people to update their PAN cards. People are being asked to click on the link.
Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check has called this SMS completely fraudulent and fake. PIB Fact Check on social media platform X has said that none of the SMS being sent in the name of India Post regarding PAN card update is true. PIB says that such messages are never sent from the post office. Users have been asked to remain alert.
It is worth noting that in rural areas a large number of people have their accounts in post offices and they can fall prey to such SMS.
