Indian astronaut to go to ISS before Gaganyaan mission says Minister Jitendra Singh Loksabha
According to a PTI report, Singh said in a written reply to a question that NASA has identified private company Axiom Space. ISRO has signed an agreement with the American company for the International Space Station (ISS).
During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the US last year, US President Joe Biden announced that India and the US were collaborating to send an Indian astronaut to the ISS in 2024.
India has selected four astronauts from the group of Indian Air Force pilots for the Gaganyaan mission. The Gaganyaan mission is to be launched next year. Singh said that all the Indian astronauts have received basic training in Russia. Currently these astronauts are undergoing training at ISRO’s center in Bangalore.
Even though the Gaganyaan project was delayed, ISRO has not shown any haste regarding this mission. The mission has been designed in such a way that it will be successful in the first attempt itself. If everything goes well, then after America, Russia and China, India will become the fourth country in the world to send humans into space.
What will Indian astronauts eat in space
The crew members going on the mission will have a variety of food options. Six different menus are being prepared. Light items like upma, poha, idli are expected to be included for breakfast. There will be an option of meat and veg biryani for lunch, while dinner may include chapatis, vegetables and meat with gravy items.
