Airtel Payments Bank has introduced a smartwatch with support for National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) technology in partnership with Noise and National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) at Global Fintech Fest 2024. The Airtel Payments Bank smartwatch is equipped with an integrated RuPay chip that makes transactions easier from the wrist of users. The price of Airtel Payments Bank Smartwatch in India has not been announced. However, the company says that it will soon be available for purchase on both the bank’s online and retail platforms.

Airtel Payments Bank Smartwatch Features

As per the company’s press release, the Airtel Payments Bank smartwatch is equipped with an embedded RuPay chip in the dial for direct, on-the-go payments. It also offers NCMC integration, which supports tap and pay transactions. With this integration, the smartwatch supports payments at merchant locations and metros, buses, parking facilities and more in India. Users can turn on/off contactless payments from the smartwatch. Apart from this, it can also take into account transport concessions and issuance of monthly passes where applicable. Users can also make payments at contactless terminals without entering their PIN with a limit of Rs 5,000. Payments beyond the set limit will require entering the PIN code.

The new Airtel Payments Bank smartwatch is also equipped with general health and fitness monitoring features, including blood oxygen saturation (SpO2), body temperature, heart rate and blood pressure monitor. It is also claimed that it can track 130 sports modes. Users can customize the watch with over 150 cloud-based watch faces. The smartwatch also supports Bluetooth calling. It comes with IP68 dust and water resistance. Airtel says it has a TFT LCD display with 550 nits brightness. It also displays notifications, call reminders and messages when connected to a smartphone, just like other smartwatches. Talking about battery backup, the Airtel Payments Bank smartwatch offers up to 10 days of battery life on a single charge.
