Apple Planning to Manufacture iPad in India
A media Report Citing sources, Foxconn is planning to start assembling iPads at its factories. “Foxconn has a target of doubling its manufacturing capacity. This will include iPhones, iPads and some other products,” a source said. Manufacturing these Apple tablets in the country will not be difficult as the capability required is similar to that of assembling smartphones. However, assembly of Apple’s MacBook range of laptops may be delayed due to low volumes.
Foxconn may also benefit from the country’s Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. Apple plans to shift part of its manufacturing out of China. Last year, the company started assembling iPad in Vietnam. Apple is looking for a manufacturing partner to make iPad. It is also considering starting manufacturing AirPods early next year. Earlier, the company had tried to partner with China’s BYD for manufacturing iPad but was not successful due to restrictions imposed by the central government.
Apple is set to start manufacturing AirPod early next year. It is being told that the company has started a trial of manufacturing in Pune for wireless charging case with Jabil. Apple is also considering a similar agreement with Foxconn. After quality testing and final approval, Jabil will increase the manufacturing of wireless charging case for AirPods. Apple’s new iPhone series may be launched soon. The iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max of this series can be given a tetraprism 5x zoom lens. This lens was used in the iPhone 15 Pro Max introduced last year.
