Google could Encounter Big Competition As OpenAI Launches AI-Powered Search Engine SearchGPT

OpenAI, which offers services related to Artificial Intelligence (AI), has launched the prototype of AI search engine SearchGPT. Earlier this week, software company Microsoft introduced its AI search service Bing. Limited access to SearchGPT has been made available. Some users and publishers have been given access to it. OpenAI has also started a waitlist for signing up on this platform.

It will compete with other AI search services like Google’s AI Overviews and Perplexity AI. OpenAI has posted a new feature on its website Post has announced its entry into the search engine segment. The post states, “We are testing SearchGPT. It is designed to combine the power of our AI models with information from the internet. This will give you quick answers with clear and relevant sources.”

SearchGPT’s interface will include a large text box and a button to start the search. Above this, users will see images, tables and other graphics related to their query. Below this, users will see the sources from which the information has been taken. OpenAI says that the target of its search product is to solve the challenge of finding answers on the Internet in one attempt. It will also allow users to ask follow-up questions. However, OpenAI has not disclosed which AI model has been used for this tool.

Publishers, bloggers and websites fear a decrease in traffic due to the rise in AI powered search engines. On this, OpenAI says that it has tied up with publishers to develop SearchGPT. Generative AI trained with large amounts of data can create new content like humans. Science related assignments can be completed with this and novels can also be written. Generative AI also has many disadvantages. Cases of fraud are happening with its use and fake videos are also being created. Due to this, preparations are being made to take strict action against it in many countries. The European Union has amended its AI Act and the US has started efforts for AI regulation.
