Apple iPhone 17 Slim to get single rear camera says Kuo

Apple is reportedly working on the Apple iPhone 17 series. Earlier this week, a report revealed that Apple is working on a slim model for the iPhone 17 series that will replace the Plus variant. Although the report gives information about many specifications of this new smartphone, it does not reveal the camera system. Now Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has revealed this.

Kuo’s Accordingthe iPhone 17 Slim will have only a single rear camera. If this happens, it will be the first single-camera iPhone in the mainline series since the iPhone 8. Kuo says that Apple will focus on the unique form factor design with the iPhone 17 Slim rather than competing on hardware specifications. In simple words, the focus is on design and portability compared to the standard and Pro models.

The rest of the leaks largely match previous rumours. The iPhone 17 Slim is expected to get a 6.6-inch display with 1260×2740 resolution. It will have the A19 chip, which is down from the A19 Pro in the Pro models. The notch replacement in the iPhone, the Dynamic Island, will be carried over from the current iPhones. While previous reports suggested that the iPhone 17 Slim will have an aluminium frame.

While earlier reports suggested the iPhone 17 Slim would feature an aluminium frame, Kuo says it will actually use titanium with less titanium material than the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max models. The Kuo leak is quite different in terms of the modem. The 17 Slim is rumoured to use a Qualcomm modem, but it suggests it will feature Apple’s own in-house 5G chip. If this happens, we could see this in other iPhone 17 models as well.

Of course, this information is coming from many sources, but the exact information will be known only at the time of launch. Kuo has also shared information about why Apple is discontinuing the iPhone Plus model. Currently, the share of iPhone Plus in iPhone shipments is only 5 percent to 10 percent, due to which this step is being taken. This step may be difficult for Apple, but it may also prove to be successful.
