Tech giant Microsoft has announced layoffs again. The company has decided to reduce 650 employees from its workforce. This layoff has been done specifically for the gaming division. In the gaming division too, only corporate and support roles will be affected by this. Earlier also Microsoft has laid off employees from the gaming division. So far, a total of more than 2.5 thousand employees have been fired from this division.

There is no stopping the layoffs of employees in tech companies. Microsoft has again shown the way out to 650 employees. Xbox chief Phil Spencer gave this information through a memo (via) The company says it is restructuring the structure of its gaming business. This phase of change has been going on since the company acquired Activision Blizzard last year.

Phil Spencer clarified that due to these layoffs, no game, device or studio is being closed or cancelled. Rather, the company is trying to organize the business in a better way. According to the chief, this step will support the company’s game studios and business units and these business units will be able to work with greater efficiency.

Microsoft bought Activision Blizzard in 2023 for $69 billion. After that, earlier this year, the company laid off 1900 employees. Now 650 more employees have been fired. After which 2550 employees have been fired from Microsoft so far this year. According to reports, after taking over Activision Blizzard, the company’s gaming revenue has increased. But Xbox’s other businesses are struggling. Xbox hardware sales have declined.
