The company has a 320 kW battery pack and 1 MW rapid charging technology, which will be used in Veera Vahana’s upcoming 13.5 meter electric bus. It promises 30% lower operational costs than conventional diesel buses. These electric buses will initially be operated on the Bengaluru-Hyderabad route.

Veera Vahana has partnered with Exponent Energy for the Veera Mahasamrat EV. This is the world’s first intercity electric bus, which can be rapid charged in 15 minutes. The length of this electric bus will be 13.5 meters. It will be the first bus of its kind to run on two axles, using a 320 kWh battery pack manufactured by Exponent Energy. Exponent claims that with its 1 megawatt rapid charging technology, the upcoming Veera mahasamrat electric bus can be fully charged from zero in just 15 minutes.

Veera Vahan says that the operational cost of Mahasamrat EV will be up to 30 percent less than conventional ICE buses. The company has also said that these buses will get a battery warranty of 6 lakh kilometers or 3,000 life cycles. The battery management system (BMS) of the bus monitors the health of each cell, while the charging process is tuned using special algorithms. The charging station also has an off-board thermal management system, which works to keep the temperature to a minimum. The company claims that with this technology the bus can perform better even in high temperatures up to 50 degrees Celsius.

Initially, both companies are focusing on electrifying the Bengaluru to Hyderabad route. For this, Exponent Energy is preparing to set up four 1 MW charging stations.
